Common questions
Does Karv run natively on a Mac?
Yes. Karv runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Design, plan toolpaths, and inspect a 3D cut preview locally, with familiar Mac menus, keyboard shortcuts, and file dialogs.
Can I use Karv as a GRBL sender on Mac?
Karv includes a built-in GRBL sender and an ordered job queue. Group toolpaths by bit or arrange groups around layers and shapes, then run the jobs in order. For other controllers, Karv provides G-code export profiles; check that the selected profile matches your setup.
Can I try Karv without a CNC connected?
Yes. Design a project, plan its toolpaths, and inspect the 3D preview without connecting a machine.
Can I bring in an existing project?
Open a .c2d design or import SVG and DXF geometry. Save your work as a .karv project to keep the design and machining setup together.
Is Karv free to download and use?
Yes. Karv is free to download and use. Donations and the optional community membership help support its development. You can use Karv without either.
Is there a Windows version of Karv?
A Windows version is coming soon. Check this downloads page for availability.
